At Willow Turf Care, we specialise in professional cricket, football and rugby pitch renovation, sports turf maintenance, and end-of-season ground preparation across Gloucestershire, The Cotswolds and the South West.

Founded by Richie Woodmason, Willow Turf Care is built on over 15 years of experience in sports turf science and groundsmanship at all levels of the game, including Trent Bridge, The WACA, Bristol County Ground and Adelaide Oval.

Combining practical expertise, technical knowledge and modern specialist equipment, we deliver tailored renovation and maintenance programmes designed to improve performance, recovery and long-term pitch quality.

From square reconstructions to aeration, overseeding, scarification and loam applications, our focus is simple: better surfaces, stronger recovery, and higher-performing pitches.

Richie Woodmason

Founder & Head Groundsman

Degree-qualified in Sports Turf Science with over 15 years of extensive cricket groundsmanship experience across all levels in the UK and Australia. Combining technical expertise with hands-on knowledge, Richie is committed to continually evolving Willow Turf Care through the latest machinery, technology and proven methods to deliver the highest standard of sports turf performance.

Chris Calcott

Senior Groundsman

A hard-working and enthusiastic groundsman with a wealth of knowledge and a real passion for all sporting surfaces. Chris has gained experience at prestigious venues including Adelaide Oval and Cheltenham College, and also plays cricket for Leamington Spa CC. His practical knowledge, attention to detail and love of turf make him a valued part of the Willow Turf Care team.

Ewan Gegg

Groundsman

A Premier 1 player for Dumbleton Cricket Club, Ewan’s passion for cricket carries through into his groundsmanship. Working closely under the guidance of Richie and Chris, he is rapidly developing into one of the most promising groundsmen in Gloucestershire, with a strong eye for detail and a real commitment to producing quality playing surfaces.

Eric Woodmason

Groundsman

A former detective turned sport hero, Eric has spent his life immersed in sport at every level. His achievements include serving as a national panel rugby referee, playing cricket for Frocester CC and the Gloucestershire 2nd XI, and coaching players of all ages to help strengthen club cricket across the county. More recently, Eric has become a WEPL umpire and pitch advisor, bringing an exceptional depth of knowledge and experience across all aspects of sport and groundsmanship to the Willow Turf Care team.

Sarah Thomas

Accounts & Administration

Sarah manages client communication, scheduling, marketing and social media. From keeping projects on track to creating engaging content and writing the emails that keep the business moving, Sarah plays a key role behind the scenes — even if making a decent cup of coffee still remains a work in progress.

Penelope

Site Morale Officer

A cocker spaniel with a passion for tractor rides, bones and digging holes where she probably shouldn’t. Penelope keeps team spirits high, oversees snack breaks, and is widely regarded as a very good girl. A valued member of the Willow Turf Care team.
